19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a third set.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
